dr toby bowman
Toby Bowman, DPhil (Oxon.) MSc (Oxon.) has over a decade of experience in education. During this time he has worked across the sector, including for the University of Oxford, supervising undergraduate and master’s students, auditing and leading undergraduate interviews for history, reviewing Personal Statements and applications, and examining responses to Oxford’s History Aptitude Test.
Toby studied his Doctorate and Master’s degrees at the University of Oxford (Green Templeton College), in the History of Science, Medicine, and Technology, including research as a consultant for the NASA Ames Research Centre, California. He also holds a BSc in Archeaology from the University College, London (UCL) Institute of Archaeology.
His work in educational publishing has included the creation of hundreds of popular online resources, syllabi, guides, and textbooks for students applying for competitive UK universities, specialising in Medicine, Natural Science, Economics, Law, History, and English.
Toby is based in the UK between Oxford and Cambridge, providing advice, coaching and guidance to students in a global space.
chloe Adams-Pickford
Chloe Adams-Pickford, MEng (Oxon.) is a seasoned Oxbridge and medical educational consultant with nearly a decade of experience, a published author of nine Oxbridge and medical admissions best-selling books, a qualified tutor, and an EdTech specialist.
Chloe holds a Master’s degree in Engineering Science from The University of Oxford (Keble College) and while studying was an IMechE Undergraduate Scholar, an IET Diamond Jubilee Scholar, and received the Range Rover Evoque WISE Scholarship. She is currently pursuing an MSc in Science Communication and Public Engagement at The University of Edinburgh, and has also studied Technology Management with a focus on its application in education at a postgraduate level.
Chloe divides her time between London and Dubai to provide her expert strategic guidance to students applying to UK universities from around the world.
Professor Sue Bailey
Prof Bailey, BSc (Hons), MSc, Phd. is a former professor of biomedical sciences and chemistry from Queen Mary, University of London and De Montfort University. During her time working at university, she also served as an admissions officer for multiple UK universities, and acts as both one of our leading admissions mentors, and a subject and admissions test tutor for biology, chemistry, mathematics, physics, and medical admissions tests.
Sue has recently come to Spyglass after a distinguished academic and teaching career and last year already made a tremendous impact, with 100% of her students securing places at their first or second-choice university. With over two decades of experience in education, Sue is a huge part of what makes Spyglass special.
Sue lives in the Peak District with her family, and her dogs Achilles and Patroclus.
Prof. Steve Seelie
Steve’s one of the most outspoken and impactful members of our team. With degrees in computer science and mathematics from both American and British universities, Steve is one of our most experienced admissions mentors, subject tutors, and professional academic supervisors. He brings decades of experience as a former admissions officer from De Montfort university in the UK and Duke university in the US, and as a university professor here in the UK for more than a decade.
Steve is also responsible for helping Spyglass to manage and respond to the impact of technological changes in modern education (such as distance learning), and he brings his considerable experience in the world of Education studies to his work with each and every one of his students.
Steve splits his time between his home in London and visiting with family in San Francisco, California. He is also a passionate runner and painter in his spare time.
Mia Rybcynsk
Mia, BA (Cantab), MA (Cantab), MBA is a seasoned admissions consultant for Economics and business degrees in the UK, as well as the head of our business development arm. She first got into the admissions industry as a private consultant, where she amassed an impressive track record before joining us.
Mia has an BA and MA in Economics from the University of Cambridge, and an MBA from King’s College London, with the support of a Women Excelling in Business scholarship. She has a particular interest in global challenges to delivering education, and the role of private sector innovation in delivering education solutions.
Mia lives in London, but often spends her free time travelling around Europe, she hopes to have visited every major European City by 2025.
