Fabian’s priorities shifted drastically in his mid-teens. With the support of spyglass he was able to improve his performance in school, clearly demonstrate his interest in computer science, and excel in both his admissions test and interview, before going on to study at Churchill College, Cambridge.

Fabian had always wanted to be a racing driver. His parents worked hard to support his ambitions, and he spent little time in school as he toured the world on the Formula 4 and Formula Junior race schedule. As Fabian grew up, however, the appeal that racing had held as a child waned - his thoughts turned to his future career and he increasingly wanted to focus on his other passion. Computers.

However, with his school attendance patchy at best, Fabian’s grades were weaker than he’d like, and he had no extracurriculars to speak of outside of racing.

It was at this point that he and his parents found Spyglass. We provided subject tutors to work intensively on catching up months of missed lessons in school. We pointed him towards valuable work experience opportunities, and helped him apply. We created a regimen of supercurricular experiences to boost his applicant profile, and worked with him over (what felt like) countless evenings to refine his UCAS personal statement into a fine instrument - which showed both a history of interest in the subject and a world-leading level of academic excellence beyond mere school work. By ensuring that he was comfortable with both the admissions test and the interview process, Fabian was able to apply as a strong candidate.

We were beyond proud to hear that Fabian had been ultimately successful in his application to Cambridge, and he now competes on the virtual race track, while also completing his degree, in the FIA Gran Turismo championship.
