Joy took time to consider a number of options for her future studies before settling on history. Her parents were delighted to see her forging her own path, and came to spyglass to ensure that they were doing all they could to guarantee that joy found happiness.
Joy wasn’t sure what she wanted to study. She enjoyed all of her A level subject, and had like almost everything except maths for her GCSEs. She was hard working and an active member of her school community, performing in plays and organising fundraising events for local charities.
When her application year came around, she realised that she was going to have to make a decision about what she wanted to study, and where. So many of her schoolmates seemed to be so certain about what they wanted to do, but she wasn’t. When she contacted us for an initial consultation, she still hadn’t decided what she wanted to do, but with the help of some informational interviews with graduates from leading UK universities in a wide range of subjects, she settled on history.
Her parents then went above and beyond to make sure that no stone was unturned in her preparation. We took the existing support from her school and enhanced it, along with developing a detailed timeline of additional experiences which would enhance her profile, and supporting her superb submisssions for several essay competitions. We also coordinated directly with the school to provide support on her UCAS personal statement, and ensure that by the time Joy had applied, she (and her family) had done absolutely everything they could to support her.
Joy had been keen to study in London, close to her family - and was delighted to receive an offer from UCL. We try to keep in touch with all former Spyglass clients, and were delighted to find that Joy feels certain that she made the right choice with History, and we can’t wait to learn about her next chapter.
